If the house is letting in the draughts and winter is approaching once again it is time to give thought to replacing your windows and simultaneously lessening the amount of money you are paying to the utility companies.  There are three basic materials used for Replacement windows and they are wood, aluminium and vinyl.

For the purposes of this article we are considering vinyl.  It was not popular in its early days but has had advances in its design and with the improvement in technology is now more in favour.  Most of today’s replacement windows meet requirements that the older style metal and wood frame windows could never possibly meet.

Today’s excellent vinyl windows greatly benefit from being constructed to a truly high quality.  They are fusion-welded at the corners and consequently form a structurally sound frame.  The actual frames are not only very strong but airtight and watertight as well.  They should never require painting or sealing as wooden windows will.   Vinyl window frames are also very durable and unlike wood will not fade or discolour.

The majority of Vinyl windows utilise double or triple paned glass units.  This creates an insulation barrier of air which in turn protects the window from damaging elements and enables a higher energy efficiency and greater protection from noise.  The airtight layers of protection are paramount to the high standards of energy efficiency that vinyl replacement windows offer in today’s market place.  The windows can offer tremendous savings on your quarterly utility bills by retaining the heat inside the home.

Vinyl windows will outlast wood frame windows because wood tends to swell and retract to changes in the temperature and in humidity.  In time the wood window frame will become swollen and misshapen.   Subsequently the window will be more difficult to close properly.

You will be able to purchase vinyl windows in virtually any style, size or colour of your choice.  All the replacement windows are custom made so will properly match your existing windows.

By adding a vinyl replacement window to whatever room will change the entire overall look of the room and you will find it is far more attractive than the metal ones it is probably replacing.  They will in all probability open easier and stay sealed tightly when you close them.

Vinyl replacement windows definitely offer great values for you home and they are a brilliant way to add value to your home.   If you want to add style and security then vinyl should be your first port of call.
